IPMB - Department of Plant and Microbial Biology

At the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology (IPMB) we investigate plants and bacteria in various aspects such as how plants develope, how they react to stresses such as pathogens and other environmental factors. Such interactions often involve a wide range of bacteria  which can influence plant growth and resilience in many ways. We are also proud to house the Limnological Station that investigates the water and all its content of Lake of Zurich. 

Even though we consist of individual research teams with different research interests there are several areas that overlap. Thus, it is part of our philosophy to create synergies between our groups to also broaden our view of these often very complex interactions. 

The IPMB is located in the beautiful Botanical Garden of the University of Zurich (UZH) whereas the Limnological Station situated at the shore of Lake Zurich in Kilchberg.
