Epigenetics and Chromatin Biology - Prof. Sylvain Bischof

Our research investigates epigenetic mechanisms that control gene expression and maintain genome integrity. We use two model systems – plants and human cells – to answer fundamental questions in chromatin biology. Unbiased approaches such as forward genetic screening and protein-protein / protein-DNA interaction mapping enable us to make new discoveries. Identified epigenetic mechanisms are then characterized at the molecular level using a combination of genetics, genomics, proteomics, biochemistry and microscopy. In the long-term, we aim at applying new findings to improve plant traits and human health.
