Research and teaching at the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology (IPMB) focus on genetic, epigenetic, molecular, cellular, biochemical, metabolic, developmental, and evolutionary aspects of plants and microorganisms as well as their interactions with each other and the environment.
IPMB currently has five Full, one Associate, and three Assistant Professors:

The operations of IPMB are led by Managing Director Tina Wentz. Furthermore, Philipp Aerni, Director of the Center for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at the School of Management, University of Fribourg, is affiliated with IPMB.
